I can envision it animating. Folding in on itself and out. Maybe animating into a solid shape, even replicating itself.
Bit complicated however when seen at the smaller sizes.

I like a lot of what people are proposing. However, I think we need to consider the inevitable split of the DAO and have a naming convention that works in that case. It may be useful to think of the DAO in biological terms like a cell that splits. I think a "DNA" style name would be appropriate because then we would have a way of identifying how the DAOs relate to one another.
Other ideas could be spores or an embryo cell dividing,
Can you use the symbol used for the a as the d on its side and 2 smaller ones to form the o?

I like the letters a lot.
I DO NOT like the symbol (sorry). It reminds me of the "too much" Expanse logo.
I personally prefer the hexagonal version as it forms the outline of a cube (or "block") and when the lines go through it (like in the top left) it finishes that into a transparent cube. It reinforces the concept of a "genesis block" being at the center of a network. I do think though that the complexity of this symbol poses some problems when scaled down to icon size. Nice work though.
This is my proposal it for the DAO logo. I only added a white border around the existing "D" logo. The drop shadow is not part of the logo, just there to make it stand-off the white background. I really like the original logo. Thank you.
