I came up with this for my avatar. It's sort of a pun.

Hi. The existing design is pleasant, and I hope we keep it. I've done a slight variation, cleaning up some symmetry and composition.

This is beautiful design, well done.

My concern with is that it makes us look like a cult. It makes the DAO seem cold, intimidating, and inaccessible to outsiders. We should be embracing design which portrays us as friendly, and inviting. Not cloister the Digital Currency community further.

alright guys! check this out. So you know the DAO pa kua? it's 8 sections, each section has 3 rows.

8x3 = 24.
dao. 3 letters. 8 bits per letter (if you use lower case) = 24

While I agree with your sentiment that "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet". I would suggest that the name does serve an important role of identifying one DAO from another. Thinking ahead to the inevitable DAO splits and further down the line an entire ecosystem of DAO's interacting with one another. A naming convention that expressed relationships of the DAO's to one another will be increasingly important.

Bottom line: According to Wayne Potts, a zoologist who published in
the journal Nature in 1984, birds in flocks are able to change direction
quickly not just because they are following a leader, or their neighbors, but because they see a movement far down the line and anticipate what to do next. Potts called this the chorus-line hypothesis for bird movement.
